Summer Festivals and Club Brasil Records
[23/03/11]

After a hiatus of sorts, due to other commitments, Mundo Pequeno are back out on the road this summer.

Confirmed dates are on the gigs page and more will be added as they are confirmed. Summer dates kick off with a return to Cheltenham Jazz Festival on the Budvar stage on April 30th.

The band are also pleased to announce that as a result of their previous appearance at the festival they will be recording for Club Brasil Records later in the year.

Due to a previous commitment Tommy is unavailable for the Jazz Festival gig so Mundo's percussionist, Matt, will be flexing his multi-instrumentalist muscles and depping for Tommy on keys while South African percussion master Risenga Makondo from The Bush Technologists will be filling in for Matt. Tommy resumes keyboard duties at Lechlade Festival in May.

...and on keys, Tommy Charles!

Tommy Charles joins on keyboards
[19/02/10]

Mundo Pequeno are delighted to announce that Tommy Charles has joined the band as keyboard player.

Following Chads' recent departure the rest of Mundo invited Tommy to come and play with them at a rehearsal recently and the music came together very naturally. Tommy is currently getting to grips with the bands' material and will hopefully be joining them at their Feb 25th gig in Cheltenham.

Chads will still be contributing his talents to the band in various roles and will hopefully rejoin the live band at some point in the future on trumpet, electronics and vocals.

To find out a bit more about Tommy have a look at his page.

Mundo Pequeno on myspace and YouTube
[14/07/09]

New YouTube channel Mundo Pequeno TV is now live. The first offerings are three mostly single camera videos of songs from the band's Cheltenham Jazz Festival performance in May shot by Likal.com. This should hopefully whet your appetite for the audio downloads that will be avilable within the next few weeks.

These three video's are the only songs that were filmed from the set so, unfortunately, that's it for now. You can watch them at YouTube or on the new video page.

Mundo Pequeno are now also on myspace. If you have a myspace profile please do visit us and add us as a friend.

Live recording of Cheltenham Jazz Festival concert
[20/05/09]

Following Mundo Pequeno's triumphant performance at Cheltenham International Jazz Festival recently we are pleased to announce that a recording of the highlights of the band's set will be available soon. Tracks are currently being mixed in Meerkat Studio 2.

These will include performances of the band's live tour de force African River and Aldeia de Ogum by Joyce which features the supremely talented Dom Franks on soprano saxophone. Dom was originally in Mundo Pequeno when the band was first formed but had to bow out due to other commitments. He will be guesting with the band on some of their future gigs.

The band would like to thank the Cheltenham Jazz organisers for a great day. The sound was great, the venue management were extremely helpful and accommodating, the audience were fantastic and the sun shone down.

There are a few photos from the gig dotted around the website and we'll put some hi-res images up soon.

Mundo play with José Neto
[12/10/08]

Following their debut performance Mundo Pequeno had the honour of playing with one of their favourite musicians; Brazillian guitarist José Neto.

José is the guitarist of choice for one of Mundo's biggest influences, the Airto Moreira and Flora Purim band. He is also the current guitarist in British rock legend Steve Winwood's band. It was a memorable night for all concerned and an experience the band hope to repeat at some point in the future.
