Edited highlights

Filmed live at The Venue Jazz Club, Cheltenham, 18th August 2009 by Furry Feet TV.

This was the hometown gig on Mundo Pequeno's 2009 August tour. Includes clips from Fica mal com Deus and the Airto classic Tombo. Features some great guitar playing from Rich, and a big Batucada samba.

Alas, as with two of the videos below, Chads is yet again out of frame.

Aldeia de Ogum
     (Joyce)

Live at Cheltenham Jazz Festival, 2nd May 2009 with special guest Dom Franks on soprano sax.

A beautiful song by one of the bands favourite Brazillian artists Joyce. Bex gives a fantastic performance of one of the most demanding songs to sing in Mundo Pequeno's set with tasteful counterpoint from Dom. Also features exciting solos from Dom and Peter.

If you don't know the original, do check it out. It's available on iTunes.

Normal Day
     (R. Michael/R. Arthurs)

Live at Cheltenham Jazz Festival, 2nd May 2009.

Written by Rich and Bex, this song stands out in the band's repertoire for two reasons. Firstly, it is one of the rare occurances of an English lyric in a Mundo tune and secondly there's very little world influence here. What you get is a beatiful melody in a more Jazz orientated setting. This is a great song.

Studio version can be listened to on the music page or mailing list subscribers can get it from the downloads page.

Fica mal com Deus
     (G. Vandré)

Live at Cheltenham Jazz Festival, 2nd May 2009.

Based on the version by Airto and Flora's Fourth World this is a great Brazilian dance tune that is a favourite of both the band and their live audiences. Set against a pulsating Baião dance groove, this is a lot of fun.

Check out the Fourth World version on their album Last Journey and also the version by Rosalia de Souza on her album Garota Moderna. Both available on iTunes.
